Faces of Burma

Faces of Burma

Faces of Burma

We came across these 2 cute children on our first day in Yangon. Like all the people we met in Burma, they loved having their photo taken.

Faces of Burma

We met this man whilst cycling around the temples of Bagan. We got lost looking for a restaurant (we always do) and he kindly invited us back to his Parents house for lunch! It was by far the best Burmese food we had.

Faces of Burma

A fisherman from Inle Lake. There will be more photos of these guys in our Inle Lake blog doing their famous rowing technique. We loved his hat!

Faces of Burma

We met this wonderful old lady on the circle train going around Yangon. It’s a great journey to experience local life. When an Asian lady to look old it usually means she is very old. She is probably the world’s oldest woman but does not even know it!

Faces of Burma

We met this little chap before going on a train journey. Like all Burmese people he has a lovely smile but when they pose for photos, most of them put on this serious face.

Faces of Burma

We met this beautiful lady at the amazing market in Inle Lake. She was one of the sellers and loved having her photo taken.

Faces of Burma

Here is Karen with loads of monks that we met at The Golden Rock site. Check out the glasses of the monk in the middle at the back!

Faces of Burma

Burmese boys love to colour their hair red for some reason. Check out these 2 cool dudes we met at the Shwedagon Pagoda.

Faces of Burma

My favourite couple from the whole trip! They were on the same train as us and as I happily took photos of people & scenes they kept smiling at me. What I did not realize was their smiles meant please take a photo of us! As soon as I asked them, they both tidied themselves up and starting posing!

Faces of Burma

We met this young man in one of the temples of Bagan. Yet again as soon as he posed he went really serious.

Faces of Burma

Our favourite entrepreneur from Burma! Her name is Pupu and she sold us some handmade postcards. She is adorable.

Faces of Burma

One of the ladies that weave beautiful scarves near Inle Lake. Check out how she is extracting the fibres from the lotus plant.

Faces of Burma

Paul & Karen with a long necked Karen! We bumped into this lovely lady by chance. We took the wrong turn to our boat and there she was. She spoke great English and had a childlike laugh.

Faces of Burma

Beautiful Mom & Daughter we met waiting for our train back to Yangon.

Faces of Burma

Even the babies of Burma pose for photos!

Faces of Burma

One day we were cycling around Bagan and came across this huge religious procession. Everybody looked amazing!

Faces of Burma

Karen having her face painted like the locals. It is good for the skin and cools the face down, something which is needed in boiling hot Bagan!

Faces of Burma

The only way to get around the villages of Inle Lake is by boat.

Faces of Burma

This kid must have been very hot! Bless him, it’s even on his eyebrows.

Faces of Burma

A market trader on Inle Lake

As you can imagine trying to choose just 20 images for this blog was nigh on impossible! We have so many photos of these beautiful people I could have easily included another 20 but I did not want to bore you. Going through them makes me miss Burma already and we only left 5 days ago! It’s truly a special country with the most amazing people. I will write more in depth blogs on each place we visited in the near future.

Talking of special places. Which country has been special to you? Please let us know as I am sure our readers would love to hear about it.

Have a great week everyone!

Love and Peace,

Paul

I love that I have some photos of the same people!! The tourist trail is very small in Myanmar 😉 I also have so many photos of the beautiful people we met because I just loved them all. This is a beautiful post, thank you!

Hi Casey! Thanks for the comment. Well the Burmese people make it so easy, especially when they come up to you and ask for a photo! My advice would be just to go for it. Travellers are an open, friendly bunch. What’s the worst that can happen? They will say no (which has never happened to me and I am sure it won’t to you.) xx

Looks like you met so many great people! One of my travel weaknesses is I tend to shy back from my normally outgoing personality and don’t meet as many people. Obviously something I need to work on so I can get some great pictures like there!

Beautiful photos! You really can get a feel for a country based on the faces of the people who live there. I adore the one of the baby, but they are all beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
